New Guidelines for Weight Loss Surgery
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) has updated guidelines for weight loss surgery. Those who may previously not have qualified for surgery, may now be eligible.
Surgical Interventions offered at St. Louis Bariatrics:

How is it determined who qualifies for surgery?
Qualification for surgery is based on both current body mass index (BMI) and other medical problems, also called comorbidities.

- BMI >35 kg/m2, regardless of presence, absence, or severity of comorbidities.
- Of note, while guidelines have changed, some insurance companies have not yet updated their coverage to support current guidelines. Please contact the office to determine your insurance eligibility.
