Michael W.
Since my weight loss surgery, many things have changed. For example, I am no longer on any medications; I am a better son, husband, and father. In addition, my career has taken off, and I have been promoted. Being healthy again has opened many doors for me that were closed before. I am happy and whole again!
Before weight loss surgery, everything was a struggle at 450 lbs. I could not run and had no energy. Nearly 4.5 years later, I can run a mile in under 7:30 and do over 45 push-ups. Day-to-day activities are no longer a challenge; I enjoy being busy.
My future goals are to continue to remain healthy and help educate others about how not to make the mistakes that I made that nearly cost me my life. I am healthy and fit again.
If you are contemplating bariatric surgery, first, do not wait, but make sure you are ready. Have a solid support network and understand this is a marathon race, not a sprint. Surgery is a tool to use, but also develop a healthy routine. Motivation is short-lived. Discipline will carry you through to the end. It will be challenging at times, and it will be lonely as well. It is worth it!
Everything has changed for me. I am stunned at the number of people who have told me I inspire them to be healthy. I have my life back.
