Joint-Friendly Low Impact Cardio Exercise
Low impact cardio exercise is great for individuals who have joint pain.
What is low impact cardio exercise exercise?
Exercise that increases heart rate and allows for less stress/impact on joints. Not to be confused with low intensity exercise. Post operatively we want our patients focusing on exercise that is of moderate intensity. Moderate intensity exercise equals an increase in your heart rate, breaking a sweat and getting out of breath.
Examples of low impact cardio exercises:
- Walking (best surface for lower impact is a track or trail)
- Biking either outside or on a stationary bike
- Elliptical
- Swimming
- Rowing
- Yoga
- Barre exercise
Low impact cardio improves both your physical and mental health.
